Give Dad the Gift of His Best Self

Father’s Day is just around the corner.  My husband is super hard to gift. His tastes run from wanting a Porsche Cayenne 4S (not even in the same universe with my budget) to “anything you girls want to get me” (can result in a significant amount of over-thinking). While, many of the Father’s Day ads I see focus on “manly” gifts like power tools and grills, I liken that to my husband giving me a new Kitchen Aid mixer. Gee, thanks – but not on my special day. I like to think of the gifts below as investments in helping the man in your life look and feel his best, which I think we can all agree is priceless.

1. Billy Jealousy Funk Buddy No. 2 Deodorant ($18) – My husband literally stockpiles this deodorant for fear that he won’t be able to find it one day. It’s aluminum-free, has a great woodsy scent and most importantly it’s highly effective.

2. Chuda Sheer Hydration Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($70) – Men have thicker skin than women and therefore may not show the results of UV exposure quite as readily, but they are just as susceptible to skin cancer. In fact, men (especially those with lighter skin) are the most likely to get skin cancer, including melanoma, according to the CDC. This lightweight sunscreen provides heavyweight, but non-sticky, coverage while also hydrating.

3. Clarisonic Alpha Fit Men’s Face Brush ($219) – Not only will the Alpha Fit help him rid his pores of dirt, sweat and oil, but it will help him get a closer shave with fewer nicks and razor bumps. He may be able to wave off smaller pores, but the idea of a closer shave is sure to bring him over to the “dark side” of thoroughly cleansing his skin.

4. Diptyque Vetyverio Eau de Parfum ($165) – This woodsy scent is made with Patchouli, vetiver from Haiti, grapefruit – at times smoky and others a touch floral. All the better, it’s unisex so it can be worn by him or you.

5. Ethique Tip to Toe Shampoo & Shaving Bar ($15.50) – An all-in-one bar (the equivalent of 3 bottles of shampoo!) for both haircare and shaving. It combines clay (removes excess oils), cocoa butter, glycerine and orange butter (hydrating) to leave him feeling clean, hydrated and refreshed.

6. IOPE Men Triple Lift Serum ($) – This powerful anti-aging formula that is part of the AMOREPACIFIC men’s line, IOPE, has black triple yeast extract to purify, hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and Siberian ginseng to energize tired, dull skin. The result is a more firm and luminous complexion.

7. Sound Oasis Bluetooth Sleep Sound Therapy System ($60) – Sleep is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Get the guy in your life this travel-ready system that acts as a sleep sound machine at night and as a Bluetooth speaker so he can stream his favorite songs during the day.
