Amp Up Your Beauty Sleep with this Nighttime Mask

This year’s winter weather has been particularly brutal. Between periods of temperatures in the teens, high winds,  snow and ice storms, we can’t get a break. Despite the daily weather changes, one thing is for certain, my skin is craving moisture. The best time to help your skin recover from environmental irritants and renew is while you’re sleeping at night. During sleep, growth hormones are released that help with skin cell generation and collagen growth. Sleep also helps limit the production of cortisol, the stress hormone that is shown to breakdown collagen.

Dr. Brandt’s Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask ($52) helps you make the most of your beauty sleep. The ultra lightweight mask combines fatty acids, ceramides (which help to restore moisture, strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and protect from environmental irritants) and botanicals such as grapeseed extract, rooibos and lavender to create an overnight mask that delivers deep hydration. After cleansing, simply apply a thin layer of the mask and leave on while you sleep. The mask absorbs quickly (leaving no mess on your pillowcase). In the morning, skin is left smooth, well-hydrated and glowing. I’m seriously impressed at the level of hydration delivered via this gel-like mask versus a heavier cream or balm.
