Tips for Surviving the Bomb Cyclone

What do you do when Mother Nature hands you a “bomb cyclone” blizzard? For those not familiar with that term (I wasn’t either until 20 hours ago), a bomb cyclone is when the air-pressure at sea-level drops more than 24 millibars in a day. That is considered a rather fast drop and allows storm systems to pick up more air and intensity. When combined with the record low temperatures and snow, it makes weather people get really excited about their extra camera time. So what should you do?

#1 Stay inside, if you can. It’s windy and cold.

#2 Hydrate – cold weather + dry forced heat = dry, scaly, itchy skin

#3 Hydrate some more

Below are some of our favorite products for surviving the bomb cyclone.

1. Collosol Eau de Lait ($18) – Suitable for all skin types, this French moisturizing milk and micellar water multi-tasker can be used to remove makeup, moisturize and soothe wind-whipped skin. All without needing to be rinsed off, helping to preserve your skin’s moisture barrier.

2. Curel Hydratherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer ($12) – Perfect for sealing in the moisture from showering. Leaves skin feeling 3 times as hydrated without a trace of greasiness.

3. Dove Beauty Bar  ($8.49 for 6 bars) – This OG soap is still around because, it works. Mild and infused with moisturizing creams, it doesn’t strip the skin of moisture like many bar soaps.
