FOREO, the brand behind beauty tools like the LUNA (sonic cleanser) and IRIS (eye massager) has launched a new tool intended to replace the cult favorite K-Beauty sheet masks. The UFO promises to deliver a professional-quality facial in just 90 seconds versus the 20-minutes of semi-downtime that one has to endure with most sheet masks.
The UFO uses Hyper-Infusion Technology (heating + cooling + T-Sonic pulsations (10,000 per minute!)) & LED light therapy to deliver a customized facial experience. The UFO and single-use Activated Masks are paired with an app that helps the user to control the intensity of the UFO’s pulsations and the power of the LED-light according to their skin’s needs. The masks come in two varieties “Make My Day (infused with hyaluronic acid & red algae to refresh, hydrate and protect skin) and “Call It A Night” (made with ginseng and olive oil extract to renew and replenish). More mask types are planned.
The UFO retails for $279 and the UFO mini for $179. Additional microfiber masks will cost $9.99 for 7 masks. In what was clearly a way to create buzz at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and incent buyers with a temporarily discounted product, FOREO launched the UFO using a Kickstarter campaign. The goal of the campaign was only $20,000 with each supporter getting a UFO, UFO mini or other FOREO beauty tool. The highest level of supporters ($2,000) receive a hand-engraved UFO and a years worth of UFO Activated Masks. As of now, they have over $565,000 “pledged”.
Are you willing to kick your favorite K-Beauty masks to the side and try the FOREO UFO?
