Celebrate France Every Day with These French Beauty Picks

It’s Bastille Day! Also, known as la Fête Nationale, it celebrates a turning point in the French Revolution, the storming of the Bastille. In honor of this important French national holiday, I think it is apropos that we celebrate some of the many wonderful things that the French have contributed to the world –  not wine, crepes or the Statue of Liberty, but really great beauty products! Below are some of my favorites.

A313 Vitamin A Pommade ($16) – For those of you that may have been familiar with the cult favorite Avibon which mysteriously disappeared from pharmacie shelves a few years ago – A313 Pommade is a similar product. A313 is 200,000 i.u. of synthetic vitamin A which helps with combating wrinkles, fine lines and minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores.

Avene RetrinAL Eyes ($49) – Made with Retinaldehyde and hyaluronic acid, this miracle eye cream minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduces undereye puffiness and erases dark circles.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 ($24.80) – While there are any number choices of Micellar water available now, I still maintain that the original, Bioderma Sensibio (formerly Crealine) H20 is the best. It easily removes any and all traces of dirt without irritation and leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed, not stripped.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($49) – Before I started traveling to France regularly, Caudalie was one of the brands that introduced me to the simple excellence of French beauty. To this day, their Beauty Elixir remains a favorite. Just a spritz or two instantly hydrates, tightens pores and sets makeup. Plus, it is so incredibly refreshing.

Le Petit Marseillais Extra Gentle Shower Creme ($6.49) – The brand, which is France’s leading bath and body product brand, has only recently landed in the US, but I’ve been a fan for years – faithfully toting back bottles from every European vacation. Now, super soft and smooth skin is as close as your nearest CVS or Walgreens.

Leonor Greyl L’Huile de Leonor Greyl ($59) – This luxe pre-shampoo treatment is my summer hair savior. Before going swimming, I apply the oil to my hair and put it into a topknot. The result is hair that is smooth, shiny and unphased by the days chlorine and UV exposure.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil ($29) – This truly magic oil can be used be used on your face, body or hair. Plus, it’s not greasy, absorbs quickly and leaves you looking infinitely more polished and pulled together.
