Travel Notes: Spring in Amsterdam

Last week, I went to Amsterdam with my husband for a little Spring Break getaway (sans our daughter – something that doesn’t happen very often). I am always excited to travel and am usually counting down the days. But, this trip was different. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sure, I knew about the canals, tulips, the Van Gogh Museum and the Red Light District, but didn’t have the level of anticipation that I typically do. In short, we were wowed. Below are some of my favorite photos from the trip!

Our trip started off on a good foot by having a Tesla for our taxi – one of many we would see around the city. They take their ecological footprint seriously there.

We stayed at a wonderful boutique hotel, The Sir Albert. Very cool decor, terrific service and free espresso and sparkling wine.

We LOVED this avocado dish only restaurant. I was afraid it would just be Instagram-worthy, but it was delicious too.

My Avocado Show avocado toast.

Some of the tulips from the Bloemenmarkt, a floating flower market. Surprisingly, there were more bulbs than actual flowers for sale.

The view, from our canal boat, of one of the many canals in Amsterdam.

One of the things Amsterdam is known for is apple pie. We ate lots of it. So good!

Outside of the beautiful Rijksmuseum. Unfortunately, we only made it to the gift shop.

No trip anywhere would be complete without a trip to a cheese shop. In this case the “Cheese Museum” with lots of gouda.
