Inspiration for Candela SS14 Collection:
“Hark, now hear the sailors cry, smell the sea, and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly, into the mystic…” – Van Morrison
From the layout of the showcase to the eye-catching hair designs, Candela’s SS14 collection was an undeniable tribute to the sea. A large roped structure augmented the oceanic aura of the collection, which consisted of 21 looks.
Show Highlights: From casual denim pieces to elegant silk dresses, mesh, lace and eyelet accents comprised a common thread tying together most of the looks in this collection. The color palette played heavily on nautical blues and whites. Many pieces incorporated unexpected pairings of fabric — like ruffled lace backing a denim jacket and white eyelet sleeves on a grey cropped sweatshirt.
The standout of the collection was a floor-length navy silk-charmeuse dress with natural rope straps. Though it lacked embroidery or accents, its contrasting simplicity made it an effortless spring must-have.
Hair & Makeup: Makeup was by Bobbi Brown, nails by OPI, and hair by Bumble and Bumble. The makeup enhanced models natural features via soft washes of monochromatic neutrals. The hair, keyed by Amy Farid, was one of the most defining aspects of the showcase. Featuring braids, sculpted up-dos and netting encasing silky straight strands, the looks perfectly complemented the fashion.
