Over the past few years, Dove has been known for its provocative campaigns that bring into question the perception of beauty (at least in comparison with what is shown in most ad campaigns) – from the showing of significant amount of makeup, extensions and airbrushing that it takes to create the “perfect” creature that we see in most ads to showing real women happily comfortable in their own (Dove-softened) skin in their ad campaigns.
Now, Dove has launched their “Real Beauty Sketches” campaign which has quickly gone viral. Without ruining it for you, the short video shows the disparity between what women think they look versus how others see them. The results are astonishing and quite moving. The end message is give yourself a break, your perceived “flaws” aren’t what others see in you (at least those that matter).
What do you think of the video? Does have it have any impact on how you see yourself?
