Product Review: GrandCentral Beauty S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting Polisher

Exfoliating your skin is one of the key steps in keeping it clear, smooth and youthful. Unfortunately, many of the exfoliating products on the market can be too harsh, especially for those with sensitive skin. Whether it be microbeads that can actually leave small scratches on the epidermis, enzyme exfoliants that sting or glycolic peels that can burn and leave redness afterwards if not applied properly – there is a thin line between realizing the great benefits of exfoliating and doing damage to your skin.

GrandCentral Beauty recently launched the S.M.A.R.T Skin Perfecting Polisher (retail price: $38). The Skin Perfecting Polisher is made with natural fruit acids such as those from apples, oranges, watermelon and lemons. The fruit acids provide a natural source of glycolic and citric acids. Natural botanicals are added to help soothe, moisturize and brighten skin. The Tobiko-like soft sponge granules in the product are used to polish the skin. These sponge-like spheres help to gently remove the dry surface skin cells, unlike some micro beads or natural scrubs (think small chunks of nuts husks or fruit pits), which can cause irritation and redness.

To apply the treatment, apply a dime size pump onto clean, dry skin. Upon first applying it to my skin, I felt a slight warming sensation (which I liked, I’m superficial like that and want to have some indication that treatments are working!). After massaging the treatment in a circular motion for approximately 30 seconds, I saw bits of dead skin cells and dirt start to roll away from my skin. With many products, the bits that are rolling off the skin are just dried product, with the S.M.A.R.T Skin Perfecting Polisher actual bits of dry skin are visibly removed. The Skin Perfecting Polisher is the first skin polishing product with a built-in neutralizer, eliminating the need to set a timer to figure out at what point you need to neutralize the treatment. Additionally, you don’t even have to rinse it off. Whether it is rinsed or not doesn’t impact the efficacy of the product – perfect for exfoliating on the go (e.g., to rejuvenate your skin after a long flight).

After using the Skin Perfecting Polisher, my skin was radiant, hydrated, significantly smoother and any obvious patches of dry skin were removed. The treatment is gentle enough to be used several times a week. For optimal results, the Skin Perfecting Polisher can be used just prior to the S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting Mask Treatment.
