Sorry for the radio silence over the last week. Life got in the way of blogging. Namely, planning for my mother’s 70th birthday party. She lives out-of-state, but will be visiting over the holidays for two weeks. We will be having 23 of her friends over for a dinner party – a delightful and happy occasion, but also amazingly stressful for me.*taking deep, cleansing breaths*
Anyway, last week I had the pleasure to attend the Lucky Shops VIP Shopping Night as a member of the Lucky VIP Blogger Committee. Prior to the event, we were treated to Clarisonic facials to prepare our skin for our Maybelline New York makeovers. Clearly, it is time for me to upgrade my tried and true original Clarisonic for a Clarisonic Aria. All I can say is “wow”, my skin has never felt so clean. The facialist also applied eye cream using a Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness under my eyes.
I was honored to have been dressed by Yumi Kim for the event. As I mentioned in a previous post, I felt like a celebrity for the day as I had the run of the Yumi Kim Lower East Side boutique to choose my outfit for the night. After a lot of fun playing dress-up in several gorgeous silk Yumi Kim dresses, skirts and blouses, I chose the Lizzie Blouse and the High Low Skirt in black petal. The High Low Skirt is great for those of us that want to show a little bit of leg, but don’t want to wear a full-on mini. So sexy, yet chic, practical and age-appropriate. 😉 I complemented the outfit with cobalt blue Sole Society Julianne strappy sandals. I’m not typically one to wear bright blue shoes. However, they just worked with this outfit. I felt even better about my shoe selection when I saw that the effortlessly chic editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine, Brandon Holley, was wearing shoes that were a nearly identical hue!
Upon arriving at the Lucky Shops venue, we had the opportunity to walk the red carpet prior to the arrival of the celebrity host, Jennifer Hudson. Then it was off to check out the deals from some of my favorite online and brick & mortar shopping destinations – including TheOutnet.com (YSL sandals for $435!), Gryphon (still drooling over that Candy Dots trench!) and of course swoon-worthy Yumi Kim sundresses. Between checking out the amazing shopping deals (up to 70% off!), I had an opportunity to have a photo taken with Jennifer. She was very sweet and gracious. I look less than photo-ready in the picture, but hey it’s a photo with Jennifer Hudson, right? I’ll just blame it on the swirl of security, PR handlers and on-lookers that were surrounding us!
It was a great night of shopping, cocktails and fun. I’m already looking forward to next year’s Lucky Shops!
