Event Recap: Lucky Magazine Fashion & Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference

Last week, I attended the fourth Lucky Magazine Fashion & Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference. I love attending the FABB Conferences because I always have a great time meeting fellow bloggers many of which I have interacted with on Twitter, get tips on how to grow this blog, hear from notable fashion and beauty industry speakers and engage with the brands that are in attendance.

Lucky EIC, Brandon Holley, chats with Rachel Zoe.

This season’s FABB was a two-day extravaganza. Day 1 was the conference filled with fashion industry giants such as Rachel Zoe, Terry Lundgren (Chairman/President/CEO, Macy’s), Steven Kolb (CEO, Council of Fashion Designer’s of America (CFDA)), Susan Lyne (Chairman, Gilt Groupe) and Aliza Licht (Senior Vice President, Global Communications, Donna Karan). During breakout sessions and panel discussions with established bloggers such as the Man Repeller and Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This.. attendees, also learned a plethora of practical advice for continuing to build their brand and become a professional blogger.

Hugely popular blogger, Leandra Medine (AKA the Man Repeller).

In between sessions, we had the opportunity to visit various brands that had Brand Experience Suites around the venue including P&G Beauty, C&C California, BCBGeneration, AG Jeans and Wrapp, a fun new way to send gift cards to friends. The final conference session featured a one-on-one chat between the wildly funny (and adorable) Simon Doonan (Brand Ambassador, Barney’s New York) and designer Anna Sui. Their witty reparte was one of the highlights of the day as they talked about everything from Anna’s start as a designer to her penchant for traveling with multiple family members and her talent for home design. The day ended with a cocktail reception so we could relax and continue to network with fellow bloggers.

Yours truly enjoying the FABB cocktail reception.

Day 2 was a brunch and shopping tour led by Lucky Magazine editors. Bloggers were able to choose from a tour of either Soho, the Meatpacking District or the Upper East Side. I chose the Soho experience which included a stop at Piperlime’s first bricks & mortar store. We were some of the first shoppers to explore the store, arriving just as they cut the ceremonial ribboning declaring the store open or business. The Piperlime store did not disappoint with a well-edited selection of clothes, shoes and accessories.

Kudos to Team FABB for pulling together yet another fantastic conference. Looking forward to FABB West in 2013!

    • I really enjoyed FABB – I think the shopping day was my favorite though and the Pimperlime store was just stunning! I definitely would have liked more time at brunch to talk and mingle with the other bloggers though!
