Since we continue to be madly obsessed with all things BB cream, I’ve decided to launch a new series – the BBC report (short for the BB Cream Report). Over the next several weeks, we will be trying every BB cream we can get our hot little hands on. All with the goal of wading through the increasingly crowded field of BB creams and diciphering for you, dear reader, the top 5.
I’ve been wanting to try Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB Cream for several weeks, however, every time I would try to find it at my local Walmart, Target, Wegman’s, etc. they would never have the shade that I needed. So, I was thrilled when I finally found it. Fortunately, it was worth all of the effort to locate it.
I admittedly had a moment of trepidation when I saw that it contained Titanium Dioxide. Titanium Dioxide is one of the key ingredients in many sunscreens and it leaves a white, opaque, cloudy haze on your skin. However, in applying Maybelline’s BB Cream it went on as a golden brown cream and instantly faded into my natural skin tone, leaving none of the immediately visible, telltale signs of a mismatched shade. As promised, Maybelline BB cream brightened my skin tone, hydrated my skin, minimized the appearance of any imperfections (including most of my dreaded post-Palma brown spots) all with the addition of SPF 30. One of the best attributes of this BB cream is that is long-lasting. At the end of a long day, including a 4-hour outdoor pool party in 90 degree weather, my face still looked pretty fresh and more importantly (to me anyway!) oil-free.
This BB gets an A due to the fact it has shades that match a wide variety of skin tones; it evens my skintone without causing me to look too “made up”; and is oil-free and long-lasting.
