As I’ve aged, I’ve found that my skin has gotten oilier and oilier. At times it’s so bad that I’ve wondered whether I can turn my personal oilfield into something positive and potentially profitable. Maybe harnessing the oil as new “green” way to fuel cars or re-purposing it as an all-natural wood cleaner? Ever since I can remember, I’ve had an oily t-zone, but now I feel like “the zone” is reaching out to conquer my cheeks and chin. I typically use an oil-free tinted moisturizer set with a touch of powder and I keep blotting sheets at the ready. However, the sage words I heard from former supermodel Kara Young during our interview keep reverberating in my head “..an oily face is for you and should only be for you when you are home at night. No one looks pretty with an oily face in photos.” Leave it to a supermodel to always make you hyper-aware of your flaws! So, I decided to take another shot at ridding my visage of it’s obvious oiliness and after several tries have found just the trick.
Just as I recommend a multi-step skincare regimen, it makes sense that it take a multi-step approach to fresh-looking, shine-free skin. After applying my moisturizer (with SPF), I apply Boscia No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment which has silica to absorb excess oil and artichoke powder to lessen the appearance of pores. Then I apply an oil-free tinted moisture very sparingly or if I want to have really minimal coverage I just apply a small amount of concealer only where needed. I then set my tinted moisturizer and/or concealer with a bit of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder. I then apply my blush, eye shadow, mascara, etc. and finish it with Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray. After letting the makeup setting spray settle for a few minutes, I do a quick passover with a Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Paper. These blotting papers make quick work of any excess oil without leaving any powdery residue.
Although, it takes several products, this regimen delivers 14 hours+ of oil-free bliss. Well worth the time and effort in my opinion!
