Unless you’ve been hiding under a very big rock, don’t have a TV or Internet access or are completely uninterested in beauty (perish the thought!), you are aware of the phenomenon that is the BB cream (short for blemish balm or beauty balm depending on the brand). In both cases, it is an oil-free multi-tasking product that hydrates, firms, and soothes the skin resulting in less visible pores and fine lines. BB creams have been a staple in Asia for quite some time. As such, the early iterations available often were not compatible with all skintones. That has recently changed with BB creams being introduced by Bobbi Brown, Smashbox and my personal favorite Origins (thanks, @ShakeYourBeauty!).
However, my current favorite multi-tasking skin-perfector, hydrator, anti-ager, all-in-one amazing product is Olay’s Total Effects Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer. Olay’s Total Effects product line encompasses products that address the 7 signs of aging (fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, skin discoloration, dryness, slow cell turnover, uneven skintone and a lack of luminosity). Total Effects Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer is super light, non-greasy and seems to magically blend with your skintone making all imperfections (redness, minor skin discoloration, fine lines, etc.) appear less visible. I was somewhat skeptical that a shade called medium/deep would be a good match with my medium/golden brown skin. When I first applied some of the product to my cheek it appeared to look a bit light (like sunscreen appears when it’s first applied), within two seconds it self-adjusted to a perfect match. It can be applied solo for super lightweight (AKA summer perfect) coverage or under your favorite tinted moisturizer as a primer.
This is one tinted moisturizer/SPF product that delivers on what it promises. If I were Olay, I would change the name of this magic-worker into Olay BB cream and cash in on the BB craze pronto!
