Former Supermodel Veronica Webb has appeared on the covers of all of the top fashion magazines, including Vogue, Essence and Elle. No stranger to the runways, she’s walked shows for Victoria’s Secret, Versace and Chanel. Although she’s most famous as one of the original supermodels and the first African-American to receive an exclusive cosmetics contract with Revlon, she’s also a successful writer and TV host having starred as a co-host of Bravo TV’s “Guide to Style” with fashion guru Tim Gunn and reported as a lifestyle expert for “Good Morning America”, “BBC World” and the Sundance Channel’s “On the Line with Joe Zee”.
Veronica agreed to chat with us about her new role with CIRCA and her secrets to maintaining her gorgeous skin.
Ageist Beauty: You’ve had such a diverse career from supermodel to actress, journalist, author and TV host. Can you tell us about your most recent project?
Veronica Webb: I’m Director of Special Projects at CIRCA, the world’s largest buyer of diamonds, watches and fine jewelry from private individuals. It’s exciting because our clients include everyone from European royals to people who simply have a nice watch or a gold necklace they’re done wearing and want to sell, and who are looking for fantastic service and great prices.
AB: I understand that you are an avid traveler, what beauty tips or products have you picked up during your travels around the world that you swear by?
VW: CIRCA has 8 global offices including Hong Kong, Barcelona and Palm Beach, with Paris, Madrid, Geneva, Milan, Los Angeles and Las Vegas under construction right now. I travel between all of the offices and it can be murder on my skin. I really like the Clarisonic brush, Biore pore strips and Yes! to Cucumber face wipes to keep my face really clean while I’m on the road. Clean skin is the key to beauty.
AB: As a former supermodel, there must be a lot of pressure to always look made up. What is your morning beauty routine?
VW: FAST! I’ve got kids and work. Work out. I use Cetaphil face cleanser, Bio-Recherche VIP face cream, Lancome concealer in camel, Lancome Hypnose mascara, YSL cream blush and Lancome gloss in “Fever”.
AB: What beauty products do you make sure you don’t leave home without?
VW: Concealer!
AB: Are there any DIY beauty treatments that you do regularly?
VW: I make a great clay face mask.
AB: What do you think has been the key to you continuing to look so youthful as you have aged?
VW: Exercise. Sleep. Water.
AB: As the mother of two young daughters, what advice have you given them to ensure that they have a healthy outlook on physical beauty?
VW: They both exercise, eat right and keep their skin immaculately clean and moisturized.
AB: Lipstick or lip gloss?
VW: Gloss.
AB: Is there one piece of beauty advice or an insider’s secret that you can share with Ageist Beauty readers?
VW: Keep your skin clean moisturized and exfoliated. Dry skin gets lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles collect dirt and make the appearance of lines even more pronounced.
Thanks for sharing these very practical tips for maintaining beautiful skin!
