I am a big proponent of preventative treatments, cosmeceuticals, industrial strength creams, etc. However, sometimes you need to bring in the big guns. I believe in doing small improvements and fixes (and yes that does include Botox, fillers, etc. – although, I’ve yet to dip into the latter) to avoid getting a full-on facelift later in life. I think even facelifts that have been done well still change the structure of the face in a way that makes the patient forever look not quite like their pre-surgery self. Below are a few of the more aggressive treatments that I’m looking forward to trying out, to avoid anything in the future that involves staples, removal of skin and cat-like results:
PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser – PaloVia is the only FDA-approved at-home laser treatment for use in treating fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. The PaloVia treatment is non-ablative which means that it doesn’t impact the surface of the skin, but actually renews the collagen and elastin below the skin revealing a smoother epidermis. Results are achieved in only one month. The treatment takes 3-4 minutes daily. You use the PaloVia handheld laser around the outside of the eye (under eye and along side, avoiding the eyelid area). PaloVia is safe for all skin types, as well as for sensitive skin. Note: the PaloVia is for those that already have wrinkles and fine lines. It is not a preventative treatment.

CoolSculpting – CoolSculpting is a non-surgical treatment that helps contour select areas of the body. The treatment is intended for those that are within 15 lbs. of their goal weight. It is meant to improve the shape of the body, not reduce the size. CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells in the are chosen for treatment (love handles, belly, etc.). During the treatment, controlled cooling is used to freeze and crystallize the fat cells. The fat cells gradually die and then are naturally eliminated from your body. In the weeks and months following the CoolSculpting treatment, the remaining fat cells then condense, reducing the mass of the fat cells in the area that was treated.
Treatment price: Approx. $1,500 (dependent on areas of body to be treated)
