Health and Beauty Resolution #1 – Regular Cleanses

As mentioned in a previous post, we are planning a few health and beauty-related resolutions for 2012. The first is doing regular cleanses.

I have noticed over the past couple of years that those few extra pounds seem to creep on more quickly than ever before. The frustrating part is that I watch my diet more than ever before! Not that I am good all of the time, but I try very hard to avoid bread and pasta, I exercise almost every day and I pretty much drink only seltzer water (complimented by a glass of wine a couple of days each week). Not only do I get my cardio in my riding the elliptical machine that I have in my home gym, I also take BarreAmped classes at my local exercise studio. Only to be rewarded with … a couple of extra inches on my waist and thighs!

To help kick-start a bit of weight loss in 2012, I’m going to do period cleanses. I can tell by the way my holiday season eating has been going I am definitely going to need a detox to rid my system of these Christmas cookies. Plus, I think the digestive system needs a rest periodically. Of course, I realize that cleanses aren’t for permanent weight loss, I will be continuing to exercise and eat healthily, but something somewhat drastic is clearly in order!

So for 2012, I am committing to doing a cleanse as least every other month. For those that have done cleanses, do you have any recommendations on which cleanse works best? Should I do it more frequently?

Don’t forget to share your beauty and health resolutions for 2012! We want to know what you are doing in 2012 to up your personal game.
