Last week, I attended the Caudalie Holiday Blogger Event at the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at The Plaza in New York City. During the event, we were led on a scavenger hunt of sorts. Each question posed to us, provided a clue as to what area of the spa we would go to and learn more about Caudalie’s amazing products.
During one of our stops we were “quizzed” on the underlying scent notes in Caudalie’s Vine Body Butter. Interestingly, Caudalie’s founder, Mathilde Thomas, was studying to be a “nose” (someone who develops new perfume blends) before starting Caudalie, so she takes a keen interest in the scents that are used in the products.
My favorite stop was the one where we learned how to make a DIY grapeseed scrub. The scrub was concocted of grapeseeds, brown sugar, mille fleur honey (from France, bien sur!), grapeseed oil, and a pump of Caudalie’s Nourishing Body Lotion. At the end of the event, we were each given a jar of the homemade scrub to take home and try. All I can say about this scrub is WOW! It is the perfect reason to linger in the warm shower on cold winter days. The grapeseeds and the brown sugar in the scrub gently exfoliate your skin removing any dry or rough patches. Most scrubs are made with salt, the brown sugar in this scrub is more gentle to your skin since the edges of brown sugar granules are rounded, unlike salt. The grapeseed oil, honey and essential oils in the lotion instantly moisturize your skin. After showering, the oils are completely absorbed leaving your skin silky soft without a trace of greasiness. After you emerge from the shower, the heavenly scent still wafts in the air. I couldn’t stop talking about the scrub or touching my incredibly smooth arm for the rest of the day!
The DIY scrub has the same ingredients as Caudalie’s Crushed Cabernet Scrub. I will definitely be picking up a few jars for those nearest and dearest on my holiday shopping list.

Mathilde Thomas entertains us with the story behind Caneles, a delicious French pastry. That's me with my hand under my chin!
